The White Hag brewery isn’t your typical craft brewery. Yes, it makes IPAs and pale ales, but where it really gets into full flow is in creating beautiful sour and wild beers, showcasing the terroir of the windswept Irish countryside.
The White Hag has been producing beers since late 2013 and was County Sligo’s first brewery to open in over a century. The team at The White Hag are all about firsts.
Their crowd-sourced barrel-ageing programme, for instance, is years ahead of many of their contemporaries and is starting to give many breweries a run for their money. Drinkers can ‘adopt a barrel’ and since 2016, The White Hag has stored over 40,000 litres of beer in more than 200 barrels – oak once home to whiskies, wines, sherries and more.
