This big Irish Coffee Pastry Stout is a collaboration between Birrificio Lambrate from Milan, Italy and The White Hag from Sligo, Ireland.
Weight in at 9%, this dessert beer was aged in Irish whiskey barrels for 6 months, then transferred onto Serra do Cigano coffee beans from Brazil, roasted locally in Co. Sligo by Carrow Coffee.
Expect notes of sweet Irish whiskey, vanilla, caramel, as well as brown sugar and roasted hazelnuts and almonds from the Serra do Cigano coffee.
The White Hag brewery has been one of the top Irish craft breweries for a while now, producing interesting and varied beers from its base in County Sligo. Named after a figure from Irish mythology – sometimes a witch, a chameleon-like beast or Mother Nature – The White Hag’s beers are just as tempestuous and full of spirit, with its Irish IPAs and sours wowing beer lovers around the world. The White Hag, Festa Nuda, is a rather lovely imperial coffee stout, with coffee and whiskey notes abounding, and which warms the palate nicely.

Wonderful whiskey and coffee hit on the nose from the off. Definitely a nice sweetness to the stout, sticky and caramelly, with vanilla notes developing over the warming stout. Lovely.

I've tried quite a few white hag stouts and this is the best. The barrel ageing and coffee flavours are to the fore and it's a great price for these flavours. I buy several everything they're in stock
