Sledding runs to the valley below, ski-carving on the slopes, snowshoe hiking in the crystalline mountain landscape, just pure winter fun. And that includes stopping off at a cosy mountain lodge to enjoy a Hofbräu Winterzwickl – the beer specially brewed for the winter season. Harmoniously strong, with slight hints of caramel and chocolate and a subtle malty note.
Hofbräu München - The story of the HofBrau - Wilhelm V, the Duke of Bavaria (1579-1597), had a thirsty and demanding household. They were dissatisfied with the beer brewed in Munich, and so beer had to be imported from the town of Einbeck in Lower Saxony.
Tasty Christmas dunkel malty with a nice bitterness

Just bought this on offer to try. Never heard of this brewer but would try others from their range.Expected it to be dangerously strong and too heavy to consume much except in sub zero winter. However, its realistic strength at 5.6% and all the joys of a good old peculiar stout. Just sweet and dark enough to enjoy whatever the season.

A good example of a decent go to dark German beer with sweet maltiness flavouring.
