Italian Beer

Consumption of beer in Italy, though considered a growing phenomenon, is not as widespread as in its European neighbours, mainly because of a historical preference for wine in the country. Many quality brands, can be found in geographical delimited regions as those confining at the north-east, near Austria. In recent years a considerable number of microbreweries of very high quality have spread throughout Italy. From the beginning of years 2000, in Italy it has seen the rise of opening of new microbreweries. The success of this phenomenon is due to the excellent quality of products, derived from experience on the wine-making applies to brewing combined with the high quality of raw materials.
