About this product
“Grottenbier” was created by Master Brewer Pierre Celis. It is an aromatic dark beer with 6.5% alcohol content. In the marl pits in Kanne ( Belgium) and Valkenburg (the Netherlands), deep under the ground, you can taste Grottenbier in a constant temperature of 11° Celsius. As it is the case with Champagne, the bottles are placed in a “pupitre” which results in an additional fermentation. This beer has been noted as one of the best "10 present-day beers by beer guru Michael Jackson". Medium bodied and unique, chocolaty bitter-sweet, created by the master brewer Pierre Celis, a dark Speciality beer.

  1. Nice
    Quality

First try and won't be the last
  2. Verified Buyer

Sweet smoothness of stout with lambic sourness:match made in heaven !
    Quality

Gorgeous smooth body but with the bitter bite of a trappist lambic. A top malty stout mixed with an Orval would produce the same taste you would think. Would be a perfect pair for a wedge of Roquefort I think.
  3. Verified Buyer

  4. Verified Buyer

  5. Verified Buyer

    Good beer
    Quality

A little spicy with a pleasant, slightly sour aftertaste. Taste reminds me a bit of Orval.
  6. Great Belgian Dubbel!
    Quality

Dark, malty, rich, slightly flat. Lots of spices first (nutmeg, cloves) but then liquorice takes over
  7. Vinegar, malty, bread.
    Quality

Notes of vinegar like in some Belgian sour/red ales, but a more malty finish.
  8. Gottenbier Dark
    Quality

    A decent dark Belgian Beer.
