Easy drinking and soft, malty-hoppy, amber speciale Belge, also known as their Antwerp Pale Ale or APA.
Amber coloured, top-fermented beer made with Saaz hops and pure malt for a sweet caramel-like flavour. At only 5% it's a great thirst quencher while still being full flavoured and exciting.

De Koninck started life as a modest coaching on the border of Antwerp, but is now part of Duvel Moortgat, the biggest family brewer in Belgium. The brewery produces a full-flavoured but relatively low abv amber ale at 5.2% (come on, this is Belgium).

De Koninck BollekeGreat to get my hands on this lovely beer that I discovered when visiting Antwerp a few years ago (great brewery tour too!). Not sold in UK shops so happy the Beer Merchants can supply me with it.

Not Bollekes!This beer, owned by Duvel Moortgat since 2010, is from Antwerp. In its home city a glass of this beer is ordered by mention of the shape of the glass, which in Flemish is a 'bolleke' - this is not rude, try it if you go to Antwerp (the city or the state). There is a tiny amount of sediment in every bottle but you shouldn't be too careful in pouring your beer; it's safe to drink and the amount of sediment is so small that your beer will still be clear in the glass. This beer is easy to drink and not overpowering even though it's 5.2%, enjoy!

Another Belgian beautyWhat a find! Dubbed "Antwerp in a bottle", it's so much better than that sounds. Amber-coloured pale ale, lovely creamy head, with a great balance of malt and hops, and spicy notes. And not even crazy strong, so perfect for every day drinking.
