De Koninck started life as a modest coaching on the border of Antwerp, but is now part of Duvel Moortgat, the biggest family brewer in Belgium. The brewery produces a full-flavoured but relatively low abv amber ale at 5.2% (come on, this is Belgium). The border the brewery sits on is still marked by a sculpted hand that was there in the days of the coaching inn, and that same hand adorns the brewery's crest.
