About this product

Rochefort 6

Star Beer

Trappiste de Rochefort are top-fermented, bottle-conditioned beers, brewed within the Saint-Rémy Abbey in Rochefort, Belgium. A dark 'double' style ale, dry and surprisingly easy drinking. Abbaye de Rochefort 6 has a light citrus fruit taste, gently warmed, with some bittersweet orange notes and a hint of brown sugar.

The aroma is warming with hints of raisins, prunes, spicy yeast, earthy tones, and the most prevalent,  light chocolate. The taste is full and rich like a brown ale, but was not heavy on the palate. The carbonation adds to the light mouthfeel, yet the 7.5% ABV lets you know that this brew has some body.

Light, copper colour but cloudy beer
    Quality

Rochefort beers are all brewed by monks in the Abbaye de St. Remy thereby qualifying as one of the few Belgian 'Trappistes' still openly available to the general public. "6" is the least alcoholic of the three but at 7.5% is strong enough to be treated with respect. It is naturally cloudy and there is a small amount of sediment in each bottle. It is a wonderful beer that I have tasted every now and again for well over 25 years, it is well worth the effort required to track down a supply of this excellent, fruity and slightly spicy beer.

    Splendid Belgian Dubbel
    Quality

Malty, bready with notes of caramel and toffee, subtle coriander and banana with a dry aniseed finish... loved it!

A nice start to my Rochefort beer journey, a nice and smooth beer! Onwards and upwards to the 8 and 10 next

    Smooth and dry
    Quality

Best Before Aug ‘26. A long time since I've had this, as I always preferred the 8. Smooth and creamy and noticeably dryer than the 8. Might just have add a few more if these to my stocks!
