Rogue started its life in 1988 in the basement of their Rogue pub in Ashland, Oregon. Housed beneath a 60 seat pub the first beers to be brewed were American Amber and Oregon Golden. The next chapter started in early February 1989 when one of Rogue’s founders wandered to Newport in search of the perfect place for another Rogue pub. A snowstorm struck and the founder was stranded in Newport along its Historic Bay Front. He stumbled accross Mo's Restaurant where he was taken in by owner Mohava Niemi. Over a bowl of Mo's famous Clam Chowder the two got chatting, Mo owned a large building out back which currently housed a sweater shop, art gallery and three apartments. Her dream was to live above a bar and rogues dream was to open another bar. Like fate all pieces fell into place and rogue moved into Mo's Building. Rogue have since gone on to produce a huge range of not only beers but Spirits, Sodas and Ciders.
