We’re Sam and Olly Nightingale. We live to create awesome craft ciders; made from hand-picked fruit grown on our farm and local Kentish orchards.
Our family has been fruit farming in Kent for 70 years and three generations, so we know a thing or two about fruit. And as it turns out, we make rather smashing cider and fruit juice, too.
Our grandparents started the family fruit farming business in 1948. Peter, our dad, bought Gibbet Oak Farm in Tenterden in 1984, so we grew up in the orchards, first playing (and eating) and later helping – to earn pocket money. Today we’re proud to help run the family business. Although we went off to University and other jobs, our best memories were always of long days spent working outdoors and foraging for wild food, and evenings experimenting with juices and home ferments. So you could say that Kentish cider has always run in our blood.
The Nightingale Cider Co started as a hobby with a friend, under the name Gibbet Oak Cider, selling to local events. 2013 was a big year, when we released our first bottled ciders. People loved them, and wanted more, so in 2015 Sam swapped his job in sound recording for muddy boots and overalls, and returned to the farm to re-join Tim, and concentrate on doing what he loved.
Every drop of Nightingale Cider is the real thing. Proper fine Kentish cider; the golden bounty of the Garden of England.
