Often called the best Tripel in the world, Tripel Karmaliet has one endless awards. It’s brewed using barley, wheat and oats which give it a smooth mouthfeel and more complex malt body. On top of that the brewery layers banana-like esters from the yeast and a little hop spiciness that adds a quinine-like dryness to the finish. A stunning example of the style.

Chill this By Karl
If I can offer you one piece of advice when it comes to the lovely Tripel Karmeliet, either chill it or open it over the sink. Chilling this beer first seems to calm it down a little. I have had several bottles of this a different points in time and opening it at room temperature has always ended in me wearing some of it, but chill it a couple of degrees first and there is no drama.
When you eventually have it poured the smell is that of yeast spices and fruits like pears and apples. It is a very light beer to drink and a bit too easy to drink some would say I always wonder where it has gone I seem to go through it that quick, which is a good thing really I suppose. plenty of alcohol in here to giving a little bite on the back of your throat too.
