The Salvator double bock is a bottom-fermented beer and has been brewed in almost exactly the same way since the end of the 18th century. It combines the most delicate of hops and dark barley malt to give a strong, characteristically malty taste and an inviting, gleaming copper colour
Established in the early 17th century by the Paulaner monks, the brewery caused quite a splash with its first beer. Their first beer, a strong bock called Salvator, was so delicious and successful that other local breweries wrote to the council asking for them to restrict its sale to save others from closing.
