Commissioned by the adventuring brewer John Martin in 1944, Guinness Special Export stout packs a punch befitting his Belgian brewery. 8% alcohol creates a strong body. Rich malty flavours combine with smoky roasted barley. Liquorice and butterscotch play supporting roles, along with molasses, hints of vanilla and dark fruit accents. An Irish stout with a continental edge.
Another century of great adventures beckons for John Martins Brewery. One hundred years ago, settling in Belgium in 1909, the famous British master brewer John Martin said - "only connoisseurs can appreciate beers like mine".
I was told to try the John Martin Guinness, which I had never heard of. Searched online and saw beer merchants did the best price. Ordered 6 bottles and was pleasantly surprised to receive a free glass. The beer and glass arrived quickly and was well packaged. Beer is really nice, not as thick as usual Guinness, easy to drink and goes well with a single malt
