Kona Hanalei IPA to launch on 17 June!

If we had to pick a desert island beer, we’d probably pick Kona Big Wave. Of course, the idea of a desert island beer is ridiculous because you wouldn’t have a fridge to keep them in, so that’s two reasons to hop the island is in Hawaii.

Since we started bringing Kona to the country back in 2013 it has been one of the biggest sellers on the site, and not just their tropical golden ale, Big Wave. Their lager, Longboard, is bready, lemony and really crisp; Lemongrass Luau ginger and fresh; and their big bittersweet IPA Castaway one of our favourites.

Well now we can add a new beer to the line up and it might just be the best yet. Hanalei IPA is a hoppy session beer made with three of Hawaii’s native ingredients – passion fruit, guava and orange. What you end up with is an ultra fruity version of Big Wave that has lots of juice up front but finishes more bitter and just as refreshing.

We'll be launching the beer on the site in our Tuesday Brewsletter next week. But equally exciting, to celebrate it launching in the UK next week, we’re helping to host parties all over the country, from Leeds and Manchester to London and Bristol. So if you want to try some fresh liquid aloha, get down to the following bars on Saturday 17th June and pray for sunshine!

The awesome Steam Crane in Bristol will host a tiki garden party with Hawaiian inspired food and lots of Kona on draught and bottle.
