About this product
This classic Belgian Trappist beer is a dubbel-style ale with huge depth of flavour. It has lots of banana-like aromas, as well as plenty of dark fruit notes from the big, smooth malt base. You can expect fig, dates, raisins and even a little coffee on the palate of this complex and warming dark ale.

As one of the biggest Trappist breweries in the world, Chimay beers are now found all over the world despite still being brewed at the Scourmont Abbey under the supervision of the monks. They started brewing back in 1862, using water drawn from the Abbey well.

Excellent Bruin BeerChimay Première is a marvellous 'Bruin' beer with a long history. It is dark and sweeter than other less powerful beers but at 7% the taste and modest strength may suit ladies who drink the occasional beer. There is a little bit of yeasty stuff in every bottle because it goes through secondary fermentation in the bottle so a steady hand when pouring is rewarded by a clear beer in the glass. Well worth a try!
