Dutch Beers

Dutch Beers

While the Dutch beer brewing tradition might not be as well-known as Germany’s or Belgium’s, beer from the Netherlands has plenty going for it. Delicious Dutch lagers are lauded in the craft community and, as you might imagine, the country’s close links with its neighbours mean breweries are adept at building on popular continental styles.

If you’ve yet to go Dutch or are in on the secret, view our range of Netherlands beers from top brands like Oedipus and Abdij van Koningshoeven below. Contact our team if you have any questions.

The Netherlands is known mostly in beer circles for its pale Dutch lagers. This is due to the fact it has some of the best water to brew with in Europe, alongside access to fresh local ingredients and good sea routes for export, which has made the Netherlands the largest exporter of beer in the EU. What people do forget, though, is that the Netherlands is also home to two out of the 10 official Trappist breweries in the world. La Trappe is brewed in the Netherlands as is De Kievit, and Brouwerij Abdij Maria Toevlucht makes Dutch beer under the name Zundert. And while the county has strong brewing links with Belgium and shares some styles, there is also a small movement for newer Dutch craft beer, and today, more people are enjoying international beers in the Netherlands than ever before.
