Het Anker is a Flemish brewery founded in Mechelen in 1471, but it didn't start brewing the beer that made it famous until after World War II. Gouden Carolus is named after Charles V, the holy Roman Emporer who was raised in Mechelen. The success of this delicious tripel has allowed it to open a hotel, brasserie and now a distillery.
