Despite being one of the smallest blenderies in Belgium, Hanssens can still claim to be one of the oldest. It has been on the same site since 1895 and there is evidence it was been making beer decades before that. Today it is run by a husband and wife team who juggle making some of the most experimental and delicious lambics in the world with full-time day jobs. Hanssens beers are recognisable for their very strong acidity and deep, cheese-like funk. Many of their beers are also purposefully flat making them even closer to their cousins, the scrump cider. They love to experiment with different fruits so there are plenty of different varieties and always something new to try.
