Frankeheim

Today's private brewery Frankenheim, was founded in 1873 by Henry Frankenheim in Dusseldorf. For more than 100 years the brewery remained in family ownership. That changed when Peter Frankenheim, representing the fourth generation, sold a majority stake in the private Warsteiner Cramer KG. Thus there was a 30-year close cooperation between the two breweries a logical progression. Meanwhile Frankenheim is the largest privately owned brewery in Germany Altbier.

Pace of the brewery was changing, by 1991 the brewery was moved to it's new Neuss-wood home. THis all happened after growth of the family business had requried an expansion of capacity, which was not achievable in Dusseldorf.

The Neuss brewery has since been brewed to the original recipe Frankenheim of 1873. The Frankenheim headquarters at Wielandstraße in Dusseldorf still has to manage the brewery. Frankenheim has closed in March 2009 its brewery in Neuss-wood home. The classic dark beer is now just in Warstein.
