Drake's

Founded way back in 1989 in an old Caterpillar tractor factory near the San Fransisco Bay Area, Drake's made English-inspired beers and named themselves after Sir Francis Drake, the British privateer. Initially draught only, they basically brewed to stock their weekly BBQs every Friday when they used to donate profits to local charities. Since then the beers have got grittier and more American, and as the rave reviews poured in the beers started being bottled and sold further afield. Today they are seen as stalwarts in the West Coast scene, still brewing some of the best IPAs and imperial stouts in the country.
